Do You Have Faith That All Is Well?

by Susan Fox, CH, AA

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

It was about 5:30am as I headed out the door with certainty, feeling motivated to get outside for my morning walk. On a walk, I talk with the Divine spirit. I use my intuition to look for the good everywhere as I walk. I ask what the Divine Spirit desires for me to do today to promote the message of genuine love. I waited for a gut feeling as to what good would be right for me this morning. The answer came, “Keep building your skill of having faith.”

There is consciousness to every idea. When you play the role of an idea that helps you in life, you act out, using your rendition of the characteristics of that idea, the role. This is a natural part of the human experience. It is one exercise in ascending to a higher, joyful way of living.

So I started reciting lyrics to the song of faith, today’s lesson, as I habitually do on my walks. “I am the consciousness of the Divine Consciousness, Eternal Being Lifeform Faith.”

Then, using the natural questioning ability in my upper left brain, I recited some questions with ideas I wanted to be true, assuming they are ALREADY true. I also received some questions about beliefs that ARE already true for me.

“Why do I have such strong faith that I live a blessed life?”

“Why do I faithfully create the most amazingly respectful, loving, happy relationships with people who naturally also believe in faithfully thinking and acting respectful, genuinely loving and happy in life?”

“Why do I have faith that the loving, gentle, pleasant voice I regularly hear as a guide is the Divine talking to me, leading me, steering me into situations and relationships that are respectful, fulfilling and genuine?”

“Why do I have complete faith that the Divine is my reliable companion at every moment?”

“Why do I know that when I faithfully believe that the Divine is my forever friend, the Divine opens doors I would never be able to open?”

I continued walking around the neighborhood hearing the birds chirp. Noticing ONLY the good in the morning, I expressed gratitude and appreciation for them. As the impartial observer in this infinitely Divine world doing my rendition of the Divine spirit of gratitude, I expressed gratitude for the cool weather.

I smiled watching the squirrels dance on the grass with each other. I chuckled as I watched a neighbor walking her dog before she left for work.

As I intentionally took the time to notice, verbally appreciate and express gratitude for everything I saw, I quickly arrived at 4 cul-de-sacs. That is the point I know to turn around to get back home. But I did something different this morning as I started to turn around.

The Divine voice said, “Do a Faith walk.”

“A faith walk?” I queried.

“Instead of turning around, have faith that there is nothing stopping you from moving in any direction. Walk backwards around the 4th cul-de-sac until you get to the stop sign. The Eternal Being Lifeform, Faith, will be with you every step of the way.”

Hmmm, walk backwards with Faith. I thought.

“You mean think of Faith like it is a Divine companion? Like it’s a protective Guardian Angel?”

“Yes. For the Divine World takes many life forms. If you walk with Faith and understand the nature of Faith, you know Faith LOVES to support you as you develop your relationship with Faith. Faith already WANTS to have your back. If you trust, with unwavering conviction that Faith is here for you, walk backwards with Faith. You will see that if you need to get your balance, Faith will set you upright again because Faith always has your back. And I am here for you, too.” assured the Divine.

And, so I walked the 4th cul-de-sac backward.

As I walked backward, I noticed I walked more slowly. I wondered why I walked more slowly. I decided it was because I was using my human eyes to see where I was going.

Then I decided that using my human eyes wasn’t really having complete faith that the Divine always had my back. As I listened to the mind chatter, I realized I was distracting myself. So, I quieted my mind and said, “I am the consciousness of genuine Divine peace.”

All this, I decided, was stepping in the right direction to more strongly developing my faith in the good nature of life all around me. And that is what faith building is all about. It’s taking steps in the right direction to build your faith believing that the Divine always has your back.
